Our Story

Life changed dramatically for our family in June 2023 when our daughter Mia was diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

Overnight, we found ourselves navigating hospital stays, uncertainty and fear. Like so many families facing childhood illness, we discovered that the impact reaches far beyond the diagnosis itself. It affects every part of family life.

One thing we learnt very quickly is that there are so many practical challenges that families face. Cooking meals, keeping on top of the housework, managing appointments, caring for siblings, and travelling to and from hospital. The world doesn't stop even when your own world has been turned upside down.

But throughout Mia's treatment, we witnessed countless acts of kindness from people across Wales. Friends, neighbours, charities, volunteers, local businesses and complete strangers who cared enough to help children and families they had never met.

Time and time again, we saw the incredible generosity that exists within Welsh Communities. And it made us think…what if we could harness that kindness and create a way for people who want to help, to do just that?

What if families facing childhood illness could receive practical support when they need it most?

That's where the idea of Cwtch Collective began.

Cwtch Collective is built from lived experience and inspired by what our own family went through, but it's driven by what we know is possible when communities come together.

Our Mission is simple: to connect families who need support with people who want to give it.

Through the Cook, Clean, Care, Connect programmes, we hope to provide practical help that eases some of the burden families carry during treatment.

A meal when cooking feels impossible.

A clean home when everything feels overwhelming.

A care package in hospital to bring comfort.

Not because these things solve everything, but because they tell a family "We're thinking of you and you're not alone".

We know the kindness is already there, our goal is to create a way for that kindness to reach families when they need it most.
